Changing Places
We are really proud to say that in Leeds we are leading the way in the provision of Changing Places and so contribute to the national campaign to develop a network of Changing Place facilities across the country.
Changing Places are toilet facilities for people with profound and multiple disabilities who cannot use standard accessible toilets. Changing Places are fitted with specialist equipment including a hoist and changing bench and provide sufficient space for up to two carers to support someone to use the Changing Place.
We have 44 Changing Places across Leeds in a variety of places of interest, shopping, social and community hubs. We also have a mobile Changing Place unit which is available to hire for large outdoor events. Leeds City Council’s Events Team manage bookings for the mobile unit and they can be contacted at: events@leeds.gov.uk
