Sky Fallers are a band with a difference. Playing rock, pop, reggae and musical theatre songs, this South Leeds band is fronted by four adults with learning disabilities and excellent musical abilities.
The band was formed in November 2014 and performs public engagements regularly. The core band is six piece: the four learning disabled adults and two staff members from Aspire Community Benefit Society who act as musical facilitators and coordinators.
Our singers, two women and two men, also play bass, drums, keyboards and electric ukelele between them. The group rehearses weekly with a very disciplined approach resulting in high performance standards.
Sky Fallers set includes well known songs from the Fifties, Sixties and Seventies, right through to contemporary hits. Lots of great singalong material and music to dance to – from Time Warp to Lazy Song via Let’s Go Fly a Kite and Highway to Hell.
The band offers participative music workshops with group chorus singing and percussion circles. Participants are encouraged to work on their favourite songs with the chance to perform it accompanied by the full band at future engagements.
It’s entertaining and inspiring. They always want us back.
