Down Memory Lane

We have always enjoyed taking a walk Down Memory Lane during Leeds Learning Disability Week at the fabulous Armley Mills. This year, of course, things need to be done differently so the team has put together a programme of online activities for you to enjoy.

The Big Walk

Posted on: June 2nd, 2020 by Carol Benson

Our second event for Leeds Learning Disability Week is The Big Walk.  Usually we hold a sponsored supported walk around Swinsty Reservoir.  However, given the lockdown, we decided to do things differently this year.  Instead, we’re asking you to walk around your garden, home or locality and let us know how many steps you did.

If you prefer other types of exercise, that’s fine too.  Just let us know what you did and for how long, and we’ll work out the steps.

You’ll find a video about the walk on our YouTube channel.

Also, details are on the poster below which tells you where to send your photos and step counts.

We’re going to add them all together and see how far around the world we have virtually walked.

Soon we’ll be launching our weekly Photo Challenge.

Every week we’re going to give you a theme.  The challenge will be for your to take photographs that are relevant to the theme whilst you are out on your daily walks.

Each week a winner will be selected and they will be invited to choose the theme for the following week.

More details about how you can get involved to follow shortly.

Design a T-Shirt Competition

Posted on: June 2nd, 2020 by Carol Benson

A group of friends who live in one of Aspire’s supported living services suggested we hold a Design a T-shirt Competition.

Their idea is for budding artists to come up with their own designs to say thank you to all support workers.  Not surprisingly, the theme will be RAINBOWS.

You should send your designs to our Endecliff supported living service by Wednesday, 17th June.  (Don’t forget to include your name and contact details.)

T-SHIRT COMPETITION

The winning design will be announced at Picnic in Your Garden during Leeds Learning Disability Week.  Later we’ll have the design printed onto T-shirts that will be available to buy and all money raised will be donated to charity.
