Yo ho ho and shiver me timbers … there be pirates at Middleton Leisure Centre!
The Jolly Roger flew high above our community base and there was a sea of people wearing eye patches, head scarves and scars. Many were brandishing cutlasses or a pistol and they had all come for the Pirates of the Caribbean fun day.
Fortunately there were lots of pirate-themed activities to keep the buccaneers out of mischief including a film, a treasure map game, lucky dip and tin-can alley. The walls were adorned with pictures of treasure chests, tropical islands, skulls and cross-bones to make everyone feel welcome.
The ‘What’s Your Pirate Name?’ game provided some fabulous results such as Peg Leg Barnacle, Stinky Patch Rivers, and Old Squiffy Tuna Breath!
A hearty BBQ ensured no pirate starved and for any that misbehaved, there was also a plank to walk …
